In Victorian times there were cargo boats using the River Severn which were called trows. One trow, called Spry was built in 1894, has been restored back to its full working glory and is on display at Blists Hill.
It worked in the days before the railway and carried coal, sand, or anything else that was heavy and needed shifting. Last week, probably for the first time in its 120 year history of holding and carrying things, it held a dog in a bag from its bow.
